Grand Ecore Bridge Project Update
Friday, March 05, 2010 at 3:50:02 PM
On February 22, 2010, the contractor set in place the one lane configuration across the bridge that will remain in effect for the majority of the project. The traffic flow is being controlled by temporary traffic signals on both sides of the bridge, and these signals have been successfully clearing the traffic queue on both sides of the bridge even during the morning and afternoon rush hours. The maximum wait time that traffic has been experiencing before crossing this bridge is 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
Currently, the contractor is removing guardrail and other metal rails on the closed section of the bridge. He is also preparing to install the temporary access ladders to allow him access to the work he has to accomplish on the navigation lights. Additionally, he will beginning to make his saw cut of the existing deck which will allow him to remove the deck in the closed off lane.
As of right now, the contractor does not anticipate any night closures until April 6, 2010 at the earliest. Should the contractor need to use a night closure on April 6, 2010, a press release will be issued one week in advance and the Grand Ecore Bridge Project hotline (318-793-4445) will be updated to reflect this information.
As always, we ask the public to obey the temporary traffic signals and pay attention to the roadway when crossing the bridge.
