DOTD announces extended service hours for CCCD ferries

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that services at the Gretna/Canal Street ferry and Algiers Point/Canal Street ferry will be extended for Super Bowl Sunday and Mardi Gras weekend.

The extended hours for Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, are as follows:

Gretna/Canal Street: Service will begin as normal, with the first trips of the day at 6:30 a.m. from Gretna and 7 a.m. from Canal Street. The final trips of the day will be on Monday morning at 1:30 a.m. from Gretna and at 2:00 a.m. from Canal Street.

Algiers Point/Canal Street: Service will begin as normal, with the first trips of the day at 6 a.m. from Algiers Point and 6:30 a.m. from Canal Street. The final trips of the day will be on Monday morning at 2 a.m. from Algiers Point and at 2:15 a.m. from Canal Street.

The extended hours for the final four days of Mardi Gras season are as follows:

Gretna/Canal Street: Service on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, will begin with the first trips of the day at 2:30 p.m. from Gretna and 3 p.m. from Canal Street. The final trips of the day will be at 12:30 a.m. from Gretna and at 1 a.m. from Canal Street. Service at this ferry will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 15-16.

Algiers Point/Canal Street: Service on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, will begin as normal, with the first trips of the day at 6 a.m. from Algiers Point and 6:30 a.m. from Canal Street. A second vessel will begin service at 3 p.m. The final trips of the day will be at 12:30 a.m., unless traffic demands dictate otherwise.

On Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 15-16, there will be two vessels in service all day. Service on these days will begin as normal, with the first trips of the day at 6 a.m. from Algiers Point and 6:30 a.m. from Canal Street. The final trips of the day will be at 12:30 a.m., unless traffic demands dictate otherwise.
