BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will hold a public meeting for an upcoming project designed to alleviate flooding in the vicinity of Lake D’Arbonne on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Farmerville Recreation Center, located at 116 Cox Ferry Road in Farmerville.

The meeting is being held to allow the public to learn more about the existing dam structures and the planned flood control project. Representatives from DOTD and the Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Commission will be in attendance to provide information on the project and answer any questions. All interested parties are invited and encouraged to attend.

Work on the estimated $7.5 million-$10 million project will involve building a new spillway and floodgates at Lake D’Arbonne. The new floodgates will be wider than the existing system and will allow for a quicker response time for alleviating flooding in the area. The design phase of the project is complete.
