ASCENSION PARISH, La.- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces continued progress on the Bluff Road (LA 928) improvement project in Ascension Parish.
Crews have completed the extension of the reinforced concrete box culverts along the S-curve portion of the roadway. The culverts were extended 18 feet on each side of the original structure to accommodate the planned elevation increase. The next phase of construction will include forming and pouring headwalls on both sides of the extended culverts, as well as rehabilitating sections of the existing box structures to improve drainage performance and reduce the risk of future flooding.
In the coming weeks, the contractor is scheduled to begin nighttime operations to mill and overlay the full stretch of Bluff Road from LA 74 to LA 427 (Old Perkins Road). During this phase, the roadway elevation at the S-curve will be raised.
Once the asphalt work is complete, final striping will be applied. The project remains on schedule for completion in Fall 2025.
Safety Reminder: DOTD appreciates your patience and would like to remind drivers to exercise caution and drive with care through construction sites. Please be mindful of work crews and their equipment, and adhere to all posted signage and speed limits.
