PROJECT UPDATE: US 80 asphalt overlay project, Bossier Parish
BOSSIER PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces continued progress on the US 80 asphalt overlay project in the east Bossier City and Haughton areas of Bossier Parish.
The contractor for the $8.4 million project has laid the first layer of asphalt on the section of US 80 from the Flat River to Bellevue Road, after having milled off and removed the old asphalt.
Currently, asphalt milling operations are taking place on sections of the roadway east of Bellevue Road in preparation for new asphalt paving to be applied in the coming days. The median openings – or crossovers – will also be re-paved.
The project stretches five miles, from the Flat River just east of Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City to Merrywoods Blvd. in Haughton, providing crucial infrastructure improvements to the heavily traveled corridor.
Motorists should expect possible delays during necessary lane closures while construction work is underway, and are urged to drive responsibly through the work zone.
The entire project is expected to wrap up in early 2026, weather and other factors permitting.
