NEW ORLEANS – The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced Tuesday that there will be a total closure of I-10 westbound at Causeway, Sunday, Sept. 20, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to allow construction crews to install steel girders over I-10. Local traffic will be able to use some of the Causeway ramps, but westbound through traffic should use Airline Drive (US 61) as an alternate route.
Traveling I-610 westbound, traffic should exit onto I-10 eastbound, to Airline Drive (US 61) westbound. Traveling I-10 westbound, traffic should exit at the Airline/Carrolton interchange. Both detours can return to I-10 westbound by way of Clearview Parkway.
Several ramps will also close on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
- I-10 West off-ramp to Southbound Causeway
- I-10 West on-ramp from Northbound Causeway
- I-10 West on-ramp from Bonnabel
- I-10 West on-ramp from Pontchartrain Boulevard
On Monday, Sept. 21, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., I-10 westbound will be reduced to two lanes of traffic from Bonnabel to Clearview. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., the I-10 westbound off-ramp from Southbound Causeway and the I-10 westbound on-ramp to Northbound Causeway will be closed.
