NEW ORLEANS – The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced Wednesday that there will be a total closure of I-10 eastbound at Causeway, Sunday, Aug. 30, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to allow construction crews to install steel girders over I-10. Local traffic will be able to use the Causeway on- and off-ramps, but through traffic should use Airline Drive (U.S. 61) as an alternate route.

Several ramps will also close on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
• The I-10 eastbound off-ramp to Bonnabel will close, and drivers will be forced to detour north on Causeway and east on Veterans to Bonnabel.
• The I-10 eastbound on-ramp from Southbound Causeway will close, and  drivers will be required to continue south on Causeway to Airline Drive, and turn left on Airline to enter I-10 east.
• The I-10 eastbound on-ramp from Northbound Clearview will close, and drivers must continue north on Clearview, east on Veterans and re-enter I-10 east at Bonnabel.
• The I-10 eastbound on-ramp from Southbound Clearview will close, and drivers must continue south on Clearview to Airline Drive, and turn left on Airline to enter I-10 east.

On Monday, Aug. 31, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., I-10 eastbound will be reduced to one lane of traffic from Bonnabel to Clearview. On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the I-10 eastbound on-ramp from Southbound Causeway will close.

DOTD will have message boards in place to help inform drivers of the closures. For statewide traffic and road conditions, visit our 511 Traveler Information page at www.511la.org. You can also receive traffic updates by dialing 511 from your phone.
