UPDATE: All routes impacted by recent severe weather are now OPEN. Changes are indicated in bold font.
LAFAYETTE, La. - DOTD announces the following road closures in the Acadiana region due to high water. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. LAFAYETTE PARISH NOW OPEN - U.S. 90 at La. 92 (both directions) NOW OPEN - La. 339 (Verot School Road) from Ambassador Caffery to La. 92
ST. MARTIN PARISH NOW OPEN- La. 347 from La. 686 to La. 328 NOW OPEN -La. 182 from La. 96 to Duchamp Road (HIGH WATER SIGNS ARE PLACED AT THE DIP) NOW OPEN - La. 182 from La. 92-1 to Duchamp Road
During inclement weather, drivers should be aware and adhere to the following tips:
- Do not drive, unless you must.
- Do not drive distracted.
- Turn around, do not drive through water. “Turn around, don’t drown.”
- Be aware of wind gusts.
- Avoid driving through areas with downed lines or other debris.
- Never use cruise control when visibility is low or the road is wet.
- Plan for more travel time.
- Leave extra room between vehicles.
- Always use headlights when windshield wipers are on. It is a law.
- Never move any road closed signs.
