PROJECT UPDATE: LA 1 (Youree Drive) asphalt overlay, Shreveport (Caddo Parish)
SHREVEPORT – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the $3.8 million project to repair a section of LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport continues to progress, with the through lanes of the roadway now fully re-paved.
The 3 mile project stretches from Stoner Avenue to Southfield Road, providing a number of improvements to the busy corridor.
The contractor is currently working on paving the turnouts at various intersecting roadways and adjusting manholes. Permanent striping will be installed when all paving is complete.
Previously completed work includes repairs to the roadway base at numerous locations (full-depth patching), repairs to various sections of sidewalk, milling off of old asphalt pavement, and drainage improvements.
Motorists should be aware of continued intermittent lane closures necessary to complete the final construction work and related tasks. Please remember to drive slowly and carefully through the construction zone.
The entire project, funded through an additional $7.5 million allocated by the state legislature to each DOTD regional office, should wrap up in late June 2025, weather permitting.
