PROJECT UPDATE: LA 1 (Youree Drive) asphalt overlay, Shreveport (Caddo Parish)
SHREVEPORT – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that one section of the ongoing LA 1 (Youree Drive) asphalt overlay project in Shreveport has now been fully paved.
The portion of the project stretching from Stoner Avenue to Kings Highway has been fully re-paved following repairs to the roadway base at certain locations, as well as removal of the old asphalt layers and replacement of new layers.
The contractor is also currently working on the section of the project from Kings Hwy to Southfield Road, milling to remove the old asphalt in preparation for laying new pavement.
The $3.8 million project is providing about 3 miles of improvements to the busy commercial and residential corridor, funded through an additional $7.5 million allocated by the state legislature to each DOTD regional office.
Motorists should be aware of the intermittent lane closures along the project route as work continues to move forward. Please remember to drive slowly and carefully through the construction zone.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in late June 2025, with progress dependent on weather condition and other factors that can impact construction timelines.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
