BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will hold a public meeting for the I-10/Causeway interchange improvement project on Tuesday, May 5, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mandeville City Hall, 3101 East Causeway Approach.

The meeting is being held to allow Northshore residents the opportunity to learn more about the project and to sign-up to receive periodic e-mail updates on the project’s progress. Representatives from DOTD, Burk-Kleinpeter Inc. and James Construction Group LLC will be in attendance to provide information on the project and answer any questions.

Work on the $35.6 million project involves constructing five new dedicated ramps at the I-10/Causeway interchange. The project will improve efficiency and safety at this heavily traveled interchange. Approximately 178,000 drivers use the interchange each day. Construction began April 6 and will last until winter 2010. The contractor is James Construction Group LLC of Baton Rouge.

The new dedicated ramps will include:

· An elevated on-ramp from northbound Causeway to I-10 westbound
· A ground level on-ramp from northbound Causeway to I-10 eastbound
· An off-ramp from I-10 westbound to ground level North Causeway and Veterans Boulevard
· An elevated off-ramp from I-10 westbound to northbound Causeway for drivers traveling to North Metairie and the North Shore
· An off-ramp from northbound Causeway to Veterans Boulevard

To get to the Mandeville City Hall:

From Jefferson Parish, take the Causeway north toward Mandeville. When you reach the Northshore, stay in the right lane. The road will bend to the right and become East Causeway Approach. The Mandeville City Hall is located on the left about two blocks after the second signal light.

From I-12: Take the Mandeville/Covington exit and turn right onto U.S. 190. You will go over two overpasses and through two signal lights. You cannot take a left at the second signal (Florida Street Extension) so go through the signal and stay in the left lane. Approximately 800 feet past the intersection, you can make a U-turn. After the U-turn, make an immediate right-turn onto Florida Street Extension. Florida Street Extension comes to an intersection with East Causeway Approach. At this intersection take a left. City Hall is two blocks ahead on the left.
