Updates in Bold.
Construction is underway for State Projects H.013116 & H.009481. H.013116 is an active safety improvement project to widen LA 20 approximately three miles in St. James and Lafourche parishes. H.009481 has resumed to widen the Bayou Chevreuil Bridge to tie into the limits of the road widening.
LA 20 will continue having intermittent lane closures in both directions beginning Friday, November 1st, between LA 643 and LA 307. Weekday closures will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday for the duration of the construction projects. Intermittent lane closures may occur on weekends beginning Fridays at 7:00 PM, and ending Mondays at 5:00 AM. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the work zone. One lane of travel will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the work zone.
These closures are necessary for roadway widening and drainage installation.
A new lane shift will be present on LA 20 at Apple Street beginning Saturday, November 2nd. Please drive with caution through this temporary realignment. This lane shift is needed to replace a failing cross drain underneath LA 20.
Restrictions: No permit or oversized loads greater than 12’ feet wide will be able to pass. These loads should contact the DOTD permit office for a new route.
These closures are subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
For additional information regarding any of these closures please contact the Project Engineer, Ryan White, at (225) 675-5320.
