DOTD announces Preliminary Highway Program public hearing schedule for fiscal year 2014-2015

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Department of Transportation (DOTD) recently announced the schedule for a series of public hearings to present the Fiscal Year 2014-15 Preliminary Highway Program. The public hearings will be conducted by the Joint Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee. They will be held throughout the state and will focus on projects and priorities in each area.

“These hearings are very important because they give the transportation committee insight on what infrastructure projects the public wants to prioritize in their communities,” said Senator Robert Adley, Chairman of the Senate Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee.

“Receiving input from local citizens helps us understand what projects are most needed and how they will impact each community,” said Representative Karen St. Germain, Chairman of the House Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee.

The purpose of the public hearings is to review highway construction priorities for the fiscal year 2014-2015. Public comments made during the hearings will be officially recorded and submitted to the committee for review and consideration in future years.

DOTD Secretary Sherri H. LeBas added, "Since Governor Jindal took office in January 2008, an unprecedented $5.5 billion has been invested to improve Louisiana’s infrastructure. These projects not only make our roadways safer and smoother, but also help to facilitate economic development. Input received during the hearings will help guide the department on what projects to develop in the years to come.”

The remaining schedule for the public hearings is listed below. The Southeast Louisiana and Northshore regions are highlighted.
