Ascension Parish, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update on the LA 30 roundabout project in Ascension Parish.

Drainage work for the first phase is nearing completion, and the first roundabout will begin to take shape in the coming months. Crews will start installing embankment, stone and new asphalt as St. Landry Avenue and Robert Wilson Road are widened to accommodate the roundabout configuration.

Phase one includes constructing the roundabout at the intersection of LA 30, St. Landry Avenue and Robert Wilson Road, as well as widening LA 30 south and the I-10 on and off ramps. Phase two will focus on LA 30 north and the interior construction of the roundabouts.

Once the project is completed, the traffic signals at the I-10 westbound and eastbound intersections, as well as the signal at LA 30 and Cabela’s Parkway/Tanger Boulevard, will be removed. This change will create a safer corridor by enabling traffic to move freely and reducing congestion along LA 30, particularly at the interstate on and off-ramps.

The implementation of these roundabouts is expected to significantly reduce conflict points at the intersections, leading to a substantial decrease in crashes. DOTD data shows roundabouts reduce fatalities by up to 90% and reduce injury crashes by up to 76%.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
