Second Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry temporarily out of service

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is advising motorists that the second Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry in Iberville Parish is temporarily out of service due to mechanical issues. New parts are on order, and the ferry is currently estimated to return to service late next week. The regular ferry will continue to run as scheduled.

As a reminder, the regular Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry’s operating hours are as follows:
  • Monday – Friday: 4:30 am – 7:45 pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: 9:30 am – 6:45 pm
Motorists can find the latest status of the ferry by calling 511, visiting www.511la.org, or using the Louisiana 511 mobile app. Motorists can also visit the DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov and select the “Find ferry & bridge status?” link on the right of the homepage.
