Reminder: Weekend closures scheduled in November for LA 47 Green Bridge in New Orleans

Reminder: The LA 47 (Paris Rd.) Green Bridge will be closed this weekend.
New Orleans—The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that weather permitting, the LA 47 (Paris Road) Green Bridge will be fully closed for two weekends in November. These closures are necessary for crews to perform structural rehabilitation work associated with the $45 million restoration project.
The LA 47 bridge will be fully closed from 8 p.m., Friday, November 1, to 5 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2024. No traffic will be allowed to pass over the bridge during the closure. The subsequent closure is scheduled for Friday, November 15, through Monday, November 18, at the exact times.
Motorists wanting to travel northbound on LA 47 to I-510 will be detoured to LA 39, Elysian Fields, I-10, and back to I-510.
Motorists wanting to travel southbound on I-510 to LA 47 will be detoured to I-10, Elysian Fields, LA 39, and back to LA 47.
Project Update:
· Over 70% of the project has been completed, and full completion is scheduled for spring 2025.
· Cleaning, painting, and structural rehabilitation of the north and south steel approach spans have been completed.
· Repairs to the concrete substructure and bridge deck have been completed.
· Ongoing work includes cleaning, painting, structural rehabilitation, and navigational lighting installation of the main truss.
As a tribute to the bridge's rich history, the iconic green paint will again adorn the structure, just as it did on its grand opening in 1967, inviting motorists to be a part of its legacy.
