The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that various roadway repairs made possible with additional $67.5 million are already underway. Each district has received $7.5 million.
DOTD first announced this funding in August, which was appropriated by the Legislature for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
The repairs are being completed through a combination of work performed by DOTD in-house maintenance crews and outside contracts.
Repairs are already underway in several regions, including Southwest Louisiana. Three recently-completed efforts were grading and asphalt overlay on LA 82 (West Side Ferry Landing) in Cameron Parish; milling and asphalt overlay on a section of LA 3092 (Lake Street) in Calcasieu Parish; and patching, overlay and striping on the I-10 North Frontage Road in Jefferson Davis Parish.
Additional roadways in the region are experiencing ongoing improvement. Patching work is underway on I-10 at the Ruth Street interchange in Calcasieu Parish.
More projects are in the planning stages, including upgrades to 13 signal detectors. Roadway improvements in the form of mill, patch and overlay are also planned for the following areas in Calcasieu Parish: US 90 from Coone Gully to east of Fabacher Road, LA 1144 from LA 384 to Sam Daigle Road, and East Prien Lake Road from LA 14 to Derek Drive.
Other improvement projects are currently awaiting contracts. They include cross drain replacement on LA 113 and LA 380 in Beauregard Parish, catch basin adjustments on US 171 at North Perkins Ferry Road in Calcasieu Parish, as well as drainage system repairs, milling and striping of various routes.
Additional routes are slated for upcoming improvements across the Southwest Louisiana region. As those repairs are complete, DOTD will share those achievements.
