MANDEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces extended intermittent lane closures at U.S. Highway 190 from Monday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, as part of the ongoing construction of an $8.7 million resurfacing project.

The lane closures will affect the inside (left) or the outside (right) lanes of eastbound and westbound U.S. 190 from I-12 (mile post 248) to La. 22 (mile post 250). Construction crews will be performing asphalt paving, removing and replacing concrete curb and gutters, adjusting catch basins, and raising the approach slabs at Fairway Drive. The contractor, Barriere Construction Co., LLC, may work nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

One lane of traffic, in each direction, will remain open at all times. During the nightly construction, eastbound motorists may take I-12 to La. 59, and go south on La. 59 to U.S. 190 East; westbound motorists may take La. 59 to I-12, and go west on I-12 to U.S. 190 West.

By law, oversize loads are not allowed to travel at night. Emergency vehicles will have access. All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
