DOTD announces new hours for HOV lanes

New Orleans, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, the two reversible lanes on U.S. 90 Business, will now be open an additional two hours a day effective Monday, September 30, 2013.

Drivers will now get two additional hours of usage on the lanes connecting the Westbank and the Eastbank, with access increased from 20 to 22 hours. The HOV facility will now be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., replacing the existing 3:00-5:00 a.m. closure; and from noon to 1:00 p.m., replacing the existing 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. closure.

The HOV lanes are part of the Crescent City Connection Bridge, which has an annual traffic volume exceeding 63 million.
