UPDATE: LA 3227 at intersection of LA 157, Haughton, Bossier Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the intersection of LA 3227 and LA 157 in Haughton, Bossier Parish will partially reopen to traffic on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 7, 2024, though some restrictions will remain in place while construction continues.
This configuration is related to the ongoing project to realign the LA 3227/LA 157 intersection.
Due to continued concrete repairs at the intersection, motorists will not be allowed to make left turns from LA 3227 onto LA 157 southbound at this time. That restriction is anticipated to remain in place until Wednesday, August 14, 2024 when the intersection will be fully reopened to traffic.
Drivers will be able to turn right onto LA 157 northbound (toward I-20) from LA 3227.
Motorists will be able to access LA 157 from LA 3227 by utilizing Delacroix Street. Law enforcement personnel will be on site to assist with traffic control, particularly during peak school hours.
As a reminder, the purpose of this first project (one of two) is to widen the busy LA 157 corridor from two to five lanes near the Pilot Truck Stop. The additional lanes will be constructed on the east side of LA 157.
The second phase, which will include the construction of the new LA 3227 on a different alignment south of its current route, as well as relocation of the existing traffic signal, will be done in a future project. That project is anticipated to go to bid in early 2025.
Restrictions/Permits: No left turns will be allowed from LA 3227 onto LA 157 southbound at this time.
Alternate Route: Motorists wishing to access LA 157 southbound from LA 3227 may utilize Delacroix Street.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
