LEEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has begun processing backlogged transactions for drivers who had toll violations captured by the system, but held in queue, at the La. 1 Bridge at Leeville between August 2009 and July 2011. DOTD first became aware of this situation in 2011. The bridge opened to tolled traffic in July 2009. Since then, the tracking of tolls and toll violations has been in effect.
Approximately 300,000 images for La. 1 from prior years went unprocessed and unbilled in part due to system issues. The violation processing system became fully functional in June 2012 and the work began to catch up on pending violation notices.
With these violation notices now current, DOTD has begun the process of addressing the prior unprocessed images. The first week of August, an accumulated 8,900 Geauxpass tolls were debited from more than 2,900 active accounts. Last week, DOTD completed manual invoicing for the La. 1 backlog and toll violation notices are currently being mailed.
DOTD has an obligation to the Louisiana Transportation Authority and bond holders to pursue all tolls and toll violations on the La. 1 Bridge. Standard operating procedures have been updated to prevent these types of events from occurring in the future. All debited tolls comply with legislation and have documentation to support toll violations. Drivers wishing to dispute a violation may contact GeauxPass Customer Service at 866-662-8987 or email customerservice@geauxpass.com.
