The Westbank Expressway has reopened.
New Orleans - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists of major delays this afternoon traveling westbound on the elevated US I-910 (Westbank Expressway) due to an earlier accident that caused power lines to fall and spread across the highway.
LA State Police and Gretna Police are on site diverting traffic at Lafayette St. onto the ground-level highway. Entergy is also on-site, working to remove fallen power lines safely.
Anyone commonly using the I-910 westbound in their daily commute should allow extra time for travel this afternoon. Updated, real-time information can be found at 511la.org.
DOTD will notify the public once the expressway is reopened.
