DOTD to hold public meeting for the Jackson Street Bridge project in Rapides Parish

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Today, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that it will conduct an open-house style public meeting to provide information on the upcoming Jackson Street Bridge project located on U.S. 165-B in Rapides Parish.

 

The meeting will be held Thursday, August 22, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Alexandria City Hall located at 915 3rd Street.

 

Representatives from DOTD and the local governments will be in attendance to provide information and answer questions on the project. Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive information on other projects in Rapides Parish.

 

The Jackson Street Bridge rehabilitation is a $5.4 million project that involves mechanical and electrical rehabilitation and structural deck repairs to the bridge over the Red River. Work such as widening sidewalks and installing handrails will also be performed to make the bridge ADA compliant. Work on the project will begin in September 2013 and finish in winter 2013.
