New Orleans – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminds drivers to resolve any outstanding Crescent City Connection toll violations by taking advantage of the CCC Toll Amnesty Program. Since the removal of the tolls and the closing of the CCCD, one of the last tasks as required by state law is for DOTD to pursue the collection of delinquent tolls.

Persons who take advantage of the program will be relieved of further financial obligations and would only have to pay the toll fee for each violation, which is $1 for those without a toll tag and 40 cents for those with a tag. The amnesty program ends on October 1, 2013.

Pursuant to Act 274, an amnesty program was created to eliminate administrative fees and late charges associated with past violations incurred on the Crescent City Connection Bridge. The voluntary program began on July 22 and provides an opportunity for toll violators to resolve any outstanding amounts incurred prior to January 1, 2013. Approximately 22,000 individuals have received or will receive notices for prior violations. To date, a little more than 5,700 amnesty forms have been submitted to the CCCD office.

Also per Act 274, individuals who opt to not participate will have their outstanding violations turned over to the Department of Justice for collection of the full payment.

To participate in the program, individuals must fill out the CCC Toll Amnesty Program Application, have it postmarked by Oct. 1, 2013, and mailed along with the violation notice(s) to CCC Toll Violation Amnesty Program, P.O. Box 6297, New Orleans, LA  70174-6297. Only checks and money orders will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to Louisiana DOTD. DOTD is working to finalize processing of all remaining past violation images. The funds collected will go to the Crescent City Connection Transition Fund for use by the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission (RPC) for upkeep and maintenance of the CCC – such as additional mowing, landscape maintenance and lighting.

Anyone who previously entered into a payment plan agreement in connection with failure to pay a toll to cross the CCC Bridge prior to Jan. 1, 2013, may also utilize the amnesty program to finalize their account balance and will only have to pay the principal toll amount due as opposed to the toll, plus fines and late fees.
