This information is to provide you with a brief update regarding the La. 511 widening and resurfacing project.
The signal timings have been adjusted on LA 511 at Fern, Gilbert and Creswell. Specifically, the cycle length (the total amount of time from the start of one green cycle to the start of the next green cycle) has been increased from 110 seconds to 140 seconds, giving mainline LA 511 additional green time. This will help to ease congestion and improve traffic flow through the corridor.
The improvement project will widen the eastbound and westbound lanes of La. 511 between Fern Avenue and Creswell Road and construct a center turn lane. In addition, the project will resurface the existing roadway. The relocation of water lines is still ongoing and work is being performed by the City of Shreveport. AEP SWEPCO will also be on site moving their utility lines throughout the next couple of months.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
