NEW ORLEANS, LA – As per Act 348, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has ended the toll tag refund process with more than $520,000 in customer refund checks disbursed as a result of the May 4th vote to end the tolls. DOTD officials returned unused toll money to nearly 13,000 former Crescent City Connection (CCC) GeauxPass customers.
“Our staff did an outstanding job, working after hours and weekends to conclude this portion of toll operations,” said Rhett Desselle, DOTD Assistant Secretary for Operations. “I would like to thank the people who helped make this a smooth, efficient and expedient process for our customers.”
Act 348, signed by Governor Bobby Jindal last week, mandates the transfer the CCC refund process and any GeauxPass account balances to the state treasurer. DOTD officials estimate that approximately $7.5 million in toll tag deposits, account balances and funds collected between January 1 and March 5, 2013, will be transferred.
DOTD anticipates transferring all applicable CCC files, funds and unprocessed mail requests by close of business on Monday, July 1, 2013, with Unclaimed Property continuing the refund process thereafter. Additionally, any funds remaining for toll tag deposits for all Geaux Pass accounts with the primary designation of the Crescent City Connection Bridge that have had no activity on Louisiana Highway 1 on or after July 1, 2012, and that have not been re-designated, will also be transferred to the state treasurer.
