BATON ROUGE, La. – Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) issued a Notice of Intent (NOI) alerting contractors and consultants that the department is seeking a design-build firm to construct the next section of I-49 South from just north of Ambassador Caffery Parkway to Albertsons Parkway in Lafayette Parish.
The project will involve widening U.S. 90 from four to six lanes, and potentially constructing several miles of frontage roads and multiple overpasses.
The cost of the project is estimated to be $75 million to $85 million. DOTD anticipates awarding the project to the selected design-build firm no later than January 2014.
DOTD is seeking a design-builder that is committed to quality; has proven experience in the management, design, and construction of highway projects; will bring innovative approaches to the project; will ensure timely completion; and is willing to partner with DOTD for the mutual success of the project.
