UPDATE: Black Bayou Pontoon Bridge to resume limited service to vehicle traffic - Calcasieu Parish

UPDATE: Emergency repairs at Calcasieu Lock have been completed. The Black Bayou Pontoon Bridge will resume limited service to vehicle traffic beginning at 5:00am on Friday, March 8, 2024. The bridge remains inoperable due to mechanical issues so DOTD will manually open and close the pontoon to facilitate vehicle traffic during peak hours.

The bridge will be OPEN daily to vehicle traffic during the following times:

5:00am - 8:00am (Monday - Friday)
4:00pm - 7:00pm (Monday - Friday)
6:00am - 8:00am (Saturday & Sunday)
5:00pm - 7:00pm (Saturday & Sunday)

The bridge will remain open to marine traffic at all other times. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

– The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Black Bayou Pontoon Bridge on LA 384 (Big Lake Road) is currently closed to vehicle traffic until further notice due to mechanical issues.

The bridge remains open to marine traffic.
