DOTD giving away GeauxPass toll tags to drivers at LA 1

Leeville, La. – Beginning Monday, February 25, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will give away 100 GeauxPass toll tags per day (or while supplies last) to drivers opening a new account. The promotion, sponsored by the LA1 Coalition, is aimed at expediting drivers traveling experience at the La. 1 toll and only available at the Golden Meadow Customer Service Center.

“We are working in partnership with the LA1 Coalition to improve the travel experience on the corridor,” said Rhett Desselle, DOTD Assistant Secretary of Operations. “By offering customers a chance to obtain a free GeauxPass by opening an account, they can experience the benefit of our steady flow all-electronic lane.”

To open a GeauxPass Toll Tag account, drivers must come in-person to the customer service center, located at 1821 South Alex Plaisance Blvd. (Hwy. 3235) in Golden Meadow, during normal business hours. The giveaway is not available online or by phone. One free toll tag per customer/vehicle will be given. Customers will need the following to qualify for the free toll tag.

 

·         A valid driver’s license or state ID

·         A permanent vehicle license plate number

·         A minimum of $30 (Depending on the type of vehicle driven, a higher opening balance is recommended.)

·         A current valid email address

 

 “The LA 1 Coalition is pleased to sponsor free GeauxPass Toll Tags to frequent drivers of the Leeville Bridge. Being able to breeze through the toll gantry, in its left lane, will pay off with much time saved for drivers with toll tags,” said Henri Boulet, executive director of the LA1 Coalition. “We encourage drivers to stop in at the LA 1 Customer Service Center in Golden Meadow and signup for a toll tag account. Your $12 sticker fee will be covered through this promotion!”

Opening a GeauxPass Toll Tag account is the most efficient way to expedite the toll process is for motorists at La.1, especially regular commuters. Drivers can avoid lines or delays in the dedicated left lane for toll tag users. The advantages of using GeauxPass are no lines at the toll gantry; no scrambling for loose change or dollar bills; no need to open car windows in bad weather; access to non-stop, open toll lane on La. 1; GeauxPass is a snap to install – no tools necessary; and an added bonus is the GeauxPass Toll Tag also works at the Crescent City Connection Bridge in New Orleans.
