DOTD assists Eunice Airport by providing flood assistance

BATON ROUGE, La. – In response to the recent flooding throughout Louisiana, especially in the Acadiana region, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that it will be providing emergency assistance to the Eunice Airport, which has experienced flood waters over three feet, leaving their business office and terminal building inoperable.  DOTD is currently working on short term repairs to provide immediate assistance and is additionally moving forward with plans to provide long term facility repairs.

DOTD will work quickly with the airport and Federal Aviation Administration to resume normal operations by constructing an elevated temporary terminal.

DOTD continues to stage assets and manpower to handle the flooding throughout Louisiana and urges motorists to use extra caution when traveling on roadways during hazardous weather conditions and stay off the roads whenever possible.

Motorists can also obtain information regarding road closures by contacting DOTD’s Customer Service Center at 1-877-4LA-DOTD (1-877-452-3683). The center is open 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
