NEW ORLEANS, La. – Since this weekend, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s (DOTD) Crescent City Connection Division (CCCD) has begun replacing approximately 1,200 ground–mounted signs along US 90 Business (Westbank and Pontchartrain Expressways frontage roads). To date, in-house forces have erected 537 new signs.

“This is another project as that we have been working towards to maintain the facility at an acceptable level and to prepare for the multitude of upcoming special events the region will be hosting,” said Rhett Desselle, DOTD Assistant Secretary. “It is one part of a multi-phased initiative to upgrade the signage along the Pontchartrain and Westbank Expressways.”

As part of the approximately $100,000 project, a number of "Superdome" guide signs are also being replaced. This portion of the work should be completed within the next 12 weeks, with work performed during off peak hours. Additionally, four large overhead signs have been replaced as part of the project, with more to be erected.
