SCOTT, La. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that starting Monday, November 19, work will begin on the $2.3 million project to construct a roundabout at the intersection of La. 93 and La. 3168 in Lafayette Parish.

“The Scott roundabout project is another example of DOTD’s commitment to safety,” said DOTD District 03 Administrator, William Oliver. “Since roundabouts operate at a lower speed, they help to improve safety through elimination of the more severe crashes.”

Serving more than 11,000 cars per day, La. 93 serves as a direct connection to Interstate 10 and is a vital corridor to tourism and hospitality related industries in the city of Scott.

On Monday, motorists can expect some flagging operations associated with shoulder work along La. 93 in the vicinity of the I-10 eastbound on-ramp.  As construction progresses motorists can also expect daily lane closures. DOTD will keep the public informed of all detours.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is committed to delivering transportation and public works systems that enhance the quality of life.  In addition to more than 16,600 miles of roadway, including 890 miles of interstate, DOTD supports the development of the state’s aviation, marine and rail infrastructures.  Through this work, the department is able to facilitate economic development, create job opportunities, improve vital evacuation routes, and make critical freight corridors safer and more efficient.
