Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 4:50:11 PM

New Orleans, LA – Earlier today, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) resumed toll operations at the La. 1 Expressway in Leeville. Tolls went into effect at 10 a.m.

DOTD is conducting manual toll collections and automated tolls are being collected via Geaux Pass toll tags. The in-lane cash and charge machine was severely damaged when a large truck struck it last month. DOTD expects to have a replacement installed sometime this fall.

Additionally, DOTD provides the following updates on Crescent City Connection Division recovery activities as related to Hurricane Isaac:

In addition to marine maintenance crews continued work at the Algiers and Gretna terminals for damages sustained during Hurricane Isaac, a few minor issues were discovered and addressed at the Canal Street terminal.

Ground maintenance crews completed work along the Westbank Expressway and the areas around the ferry terminals, as well as sweeping bridges, ramps and the expressway. Trash pickup is set to resume this week.

All sand and debris has been removed from the pumping station and it is now set for repair work.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is committed to delivering transportation and public works systems that enhance the quality of life. In addition to more than 16,600 miles of roadway, including over 890 miles of interstate, DOTD supports the development of the state’s aviation, marine and rail infrastructures. Through this work, we are able to facilitate economic development, create job opportunities, improve vital evacuation routes, and make critical freight corridors safer and more efficient.
