BATON ROUGE, La. – Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminded citizens in the Baton Rouge community to prepare for crews to begin final passes to remove storm debris along state routes in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Crews will begin final passes to remove debris on Monday, Oct. 8. DOTD encourages citizens to move storm debris to the side of the roadway for pick up through this weekend.

To help speed up the process, DOTD requests that storm-related debris be separated into two piles – vegetative debris (trees, limbs, etc.) in one pile and demolition debris related to storm damage in another. Household appliances should be placed separately and to the side.

DOTD is utilizing in-house crews to remove debris in East Baton Rouge Parish. To date, over 362,000 cubic yards of debris has been removed from affected roadways statewide, approximately 17,500 cubic yards a day. Over 15,750 cubic yards has been removed in East Baton Rouge Parish.

DOTD is responsible for picking up storm-related debris on all routes in the state system, including all state, interstate and U.S. routes – over 8,650 miles of roadway in the affected area.
