LA 39 at Braithwaite remains closed following Hurricane Isaac

New Orleans, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces La. 39 will remain closed at Braithwaite through this week, due to repair and remediation work at the Stolthaven chemical plant.

All traffic for La. 39 south of the Stolthaven chemical plant must use the Belle Chasse ferry.  However, in anticipation of excessive traffic on the ferry in the evenings, work will be stopped and La. 39 will be opened to allow public travel, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., for access out of Plaquemines Parish.

DOTD will notify the traveling public when the road fully reopens.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is committed to delivering transportation and public works systems that enhance the quality of life. In addition to more than 16,600 miles of roadway, including over 890 miles of interstate, DOTD supports the development of the state’s aviation, marine and rail infrastructures. Through this work, we are able to facilitate economic development, create job opportunities, improve vital evacuation routes, and make critical freight corridors safer and more efficient.
