Monday, September 03, 2012 at 3:32:00 PM

New Orleans, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s (DOTD) Crescent City Connection Division (CCCD) resumed ferry service at its Lower Algiers/Chalmette route yesterday.  The ferry is currently operating on its normal 6:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. schedule. This is a pedestrian and vehicle ferry.

Although power was restored at the Algiers Point ferry landing today, the Canal Street/Algiers Point ferry remains out of service because of damage done to the landing during Hurricane Isaac and mechanical issues with the ferry boat.

“We are committed to customer service, and are working to return the ferry to service by the end of this week, said David Tippett, executive director of CCCD. "We will notify the public once our services our online."

The Gretna Ferry remains out of service due to ongoing mechanical issues.
