Judge Seeber Bridge - Construction begins on first DOTD Paths to Progress project in Lower Ninth Ward

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Developmentā€™s (DOTD) Paths to Progress will begin construction on Monday, July 9, for street segments located in the Lower Ninth Ward. The contractor for the$2.4 million project is Barriere Construction, Co.

 

Street segments include:

  • Forstall Street from N. Claiborne Avenue to Douglas Street                                      
  • Tupelo Street from St. Claude Avenue to Douglas Street                                            
  • Alvar Street from Chef Menteur Highway to Higgins Boulevard              
  • Alvar Street from Higgins Boulevard to Florida Avenue                                               

Repairs will include resurfacing, repairing curbs and installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps. The construction is scheduled for completion in October 2012.

 

Paths to Progress is a transportation improvement program to rehabilitate, restore and enhance more than 60 roadway segments in Orleans and Jefferson parishes.  With a combined investment of over $90 million, Paths to Progress is a collaborative effort between the Federal Highway Administration, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission and City of New Orleans.
