New Orleans, La. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has temporarily reopened the US Highway 11 Bridge to vehicular traffic as of 9:45 a.m. The bridge, which underwent a short-term repair, is operable and will be partially open to marine traffic until a permanent repair can be completed.

DOTD is preparing plans and documents to accept bids to secure a contractor to complete the permanent repairs, it is estimated this will take approximately six weeks. At that point, the bridge may again have to be closed while the permanent repairs are taking place. More updates will be provided regarding the length of this closure as additional information becomes available. Last month, DOTD had to close the structure to vehicular traffic due to a serious mechanical malfunction.
