DOTD to hold public hearing on proposed U.S. 90 / La. 318 Interchange in St. Mary Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration, will conduct a public hearing for the proposed project to build an interchange at U.S. 90 and La. 318. The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the West St. Mary Civic Center, located at 1472 Highway 318 in Jeanerette.

 

This open forum public hearing will allow agencies, local representatives, and the public to review and comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA); to review and comment on the proposed “Build” and “No-build” Alternatives; and to receive additional information about the project, project schedule, the right-of-way acquisition process and the environmental process. Representatives of DOTD will be present to receive comments and answer any questions.

 

Materials and displays describing the project, alternatives studied, and potential environmental and social impacts will be available at the hearing.   Verbal comments related to the project will be recorded, and written comments will be accepted at the hearing, or can be mailed to the address below.

 

The Draft EA is available for public review, during regular business hours at the following locations: St. Mary Parish Library, 206 Iberia St., Franklin; LA State Library, Baton Rouge; University of New Orleans, Earl K Long Library, New Orleans; McNeese State University, Frazar Memorial Library, Lake Charles; University of LA at Lafayette, Edith Dupre Library; St. Mary Parish Courthouse – 5th Floor, Planning Department, 500 Main St., Franklin; West St. Mary Civic Center, Jeanerette; and at Linda’s One Stop, 1534 Cypremort Rd., Four Corners. A copy of the Draft EA is also available on the LADOTD website at: http://www.dotd.la.gov/administration/public_info/projects/us90/ .

 

Comments on the Draft EA will be accepted through August 1, 2012, and may be submitted at the public hearing, via email to christi.wilson@urs.com, and/or by US Mail to: URS Corporation, 3500 North Causeway Boulevard, Suite 900, Metairie, LA. 70002-3527, Attention: Christi Wilson.
