LA 143 – US 165 CONNECTOR AND
OUACHITA RIVER BRIDGE
OUACHITA PARISH

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), along with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing construction of a new highway north of the West Monroe and Monroe corporate limits. This highway would connect Louisiana Highway 143 (LA 143) in the west with U.S. Highway 165 (US 165) to the east, and include a new Ouachita River bridge crossing near Bayou Chauvin. The LADOTD encourages the public to attend the first Public Meeting for this project at the following time and place:

The purpose of this public "scoping" meeting is to present an overview of the project and give the public an opportunity to provide comments that will help the study team in the evaluation of the alternatives. A looping presentation will describe the project, the range of alternatives under study including toll collection, and opportunities for public participation. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) process for conducting EISs in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 will also be described. Comments are requested on the purpose and need for the project, issues that should be considered in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) being prepared by the LADOTD for the FHWA, and other concerns related to the project. Informational handouts, maps, and graphic displays will be available at the meeting. Representatives from LADOTD, FHWA, and the consultant team will be present to receive comments and discuss issues. Verbal comments will be recorded.

Written statements received at the meeting or mailed to the address below, if postmarked by August 24, ^2012, will become part of the record of this Public Scoping Meeting.
