DOTD to hold public meetings for Statewide Historic Bridge Study

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in coordination with the Louisiana State Historic Preservation Office and the Federal Highway Administration, has commissioned a project to study historic bridges in the state, and to develop a process to manage and preserve these valued resources.

Mead & Hunt, a national consulting firm that specializes in historic bridges, will assist in the preparation of the Historic Bridge Inventory. Several public presentations are currently scheduled and interested individuals and groups are invited to attend.

Additional meetings are tentatively scheduled for mid-September in Monroe and early October in Lafayette.
