LA 21 Widening Project

Construction:

This proposed project consists of the widening of LA 21 from Bootlegger Road to 11th Avenue. The proposed project includes four travel lanes with a 19-foot wide raised median. A 6-foot side walk would be constructed on the South side of the roadway from 11th Avenue to Bootlegger Road and on the North side of the roadway from 11th Avenue to Cherokee Rose Lane.

A public meeting was held on April 4, 2012. Questions and comments were gathered and a transcript was put together.  A Cultural Resource Survey will be the next step taken to complete this project.  A Cultural Resource Survey looks for impacts projects may have on archaeological sites, historic districts, and/or historic properties.   A survey was done when the project was originally cleared; however another survey has to be done to ensure there are no archeological sites in the new required right of way. Once all this information is gathered a report will be sent to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for their approval.
