The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that, effective immediately, the Turner Canal Bridge on LA 1183 is open to all traffic.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that, weather permitting, on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 7:00 am Turner Canal Bridge on LA 1183 will be closed to all traffic. This construction project is expected to be completed by October 2023.

This 0.123 mile construction project consists of clearing and grubbing, removal of bridge, grading, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, pavement widening, asphalt concrete pavement, precast concrete piles, concrete slab span bridge, and related work.

This contract was awarded to Merrick, LLC in the amount of $2,352,663.45.

Permit/Detour Section
The roadway will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the bridge construction.

The detour is as follows:

North bound traffic will travel south on LA 1183 to the intersection of LA 105 and proceed north on LA 105 to the intersection of LA 1. From there, proceed north on LA 1 to LA 1183.

South bound traffic will travel north on LA 1183 to the intersection of LA 1 and proceed south on LA 1 to the intersection of LA 105. From there, proceed south on LA 105 to LA 1183.

The detour route will be identified with proper construction signage.

Safety Reminder
All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
