Intersection in Covington to have intermittent closures overnight Wed. for reconfiguration

Covington, La. - The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the intersection of US 190B (21st Ave.) and Jefferson Ave. in Covington will have intermittent closures between 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2023, and 6 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2023, as workers reconfigure the intersection from signalized to a mini roundabout.
The new configuration is part of a $2 million project that is expected to be completed this spring.
Roundabout intersections have become more popular in the U.S. because they've proven to be safe alternative to signals by reducing conflict points, lowering speeds and calming traffic. They can also improve traffic flow through a busy intersection.
