Belle Chasse Bridge & Tunnel Project: Railroad Street Extension Now Open

Belle Chasse - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the Railroad Street extension in Belle Chasse is now open for public use as of February 8, 2023. This road was created to facilitate access through the Fourth St. Leon neighborhood.

As a result of the new Belle Chasse Bridge, Mildred Street and Planters Canal Road crossings were permanently closed. Railroad Street was then extended to connect those streets to Burmaster Street.

The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement project would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation as we continue our progress with the construction of the new Belle Chasse Bridge.
