Perkins Road Construction Update

East Baton Rouge Parish

March 23, 2009

Bluebonnet Boulevard – Essen Lane

Crews continue work on the road foundation for portions of the outside roadway that will connect side streets, entrances and driveways to the new outside lanes. This work is followed by a crew paving these sections with new concrete.  Most of the foundation and concrete pouring is done in the daytime along Perkins between Bluebonnet and Essen.

Another crew is working on catch basins for drainage.  The catch basins sit underground and will eventually be covered by new sidewalks. These basins catch the water that is drained off the roadway and then disperse it along the new pipes that replaced the open ditches along Perkins Road.

We have one bridge crew continuing the work on the Dawson Creek Bridge. At this time, all deck spans on the north and south side of the bridge are complete.  A few remaining items are being worked on for the outside portions of the bridge.

This week Madeira Drive will be re-opened and Granada Drive will be closed for construction.  Please use Madeira as a detour to Perkins Road.

All above mentioned work schedules are subject to change because of adverse weather.
