UPDATE: Grand Lake Pontoon Bridge anticipated to remain closed to motorists for two weeks -- Cameron Parish
Friday, January 06, 2023 at 8:58:14 AM
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Grand Lake Pontoon Bridge on LA 384 will remain closed to motorists for at least two weeks due to issues with the apron lifting girder.
The bridge was closed to highway traffic on December 23, 2022, after routine maintenance by DOTD personnel revealed a structural issue with the lifting girder beneath the easternmost roadway approach apron. The lifting girder is a structural support used to raise and lower the apron onto the pontoon.
A DOTD statewide bridge crew has disassembled the apron and delivered it to the fabrication yard for repair. Crews will work seven days a week until the bridge is back in operation.
The area will remain open to marine traffic.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
