DOTD announces results of April 30 bid letting

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling more than $63 million at its April 30 public bid opening, according to Gov. Bobby Jindal and DOTD Secretary William D. Ankner, Ph.D.

With a bid of $23,348,707.83, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, was the apparent low bidder on the most expensive job let April 30, a project in Caddo Parish calling for installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, concrete overlay, traffic signals, concrete slab span bridges and related work on La. 523 from La. 1 to Burt Koons Industrial Loop.

Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

Caddo – Concrete overlay and related work to build a turn lane on La. 3032 at Dee Street, F.J. Burnell Inc., Shreveport, $113,208.50.

East Baton Rouge – Pavement patching and related work on La. 73 from Drusilla Lane to Government Street, Forby Contracting Inc., Hinckley, Minn., $953,585.

Grant – Installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, concrete girder span bridge, bridge removal and related work on La. 158 to replace the Bayou Grappe Bridge, James Construction Group LLC, Baton Rouge, $2,006,233.95.

Iberia – Pavement patching and related work on the eastbound lanes of La. 182 from 500 feet west of La. 677 to La. 677, Cecil Perry Improvements Ltd., Lafayette, $176,297.

Lafayette – Installing lighting and related work at the I-10/Louisiana Avenue interchange, Jack B. Harper Contractor Inc., Mandeville, $864,024.

Lafourche – Installing drainage pipe, concrete overlay, new building construction, traffic signs and related work to build the La. 1 Toll Customer Service Center on La. 3235 between Griffin Lane and St. Louis Street, Ernest P. Breaux Electrical Inc., New Iberia, $7,548,884.09.

Orleans – Electrical and mechanical repairs on the Pontchartrain pump station, Industrial & Mechanical Contractors LLC, Jefferson, $1,373,735.

Rapides – Asphalt overlay, pavement patching and related work on La. 1 from the Missouri Pacific Railroad crossing to 0.8 miles south of Rapides Station Road, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $898,283.86.

Richland, West Carroll – Sealing asphalt pavement and related work on La. 17 from 0.75 miles north of U.S. 80 to the West Carroll Parish line, and on La. 17 from the Richland Parish line to Darnell, Dreher Contracting Inc., Bastrop, $641,738.75.

St. Helena, Tangipahoa, Washington – Sealing asphalt pavement and related work on La. 43 from La. 16 to La. 1045; on La. 436 from La. 1069 to La. 62; on La. 438 from La. 62 to La. 21; on La. 1047 from La. 1046 to La. 1048; and on La. 1055 from La. 1054 to the Washington Parish line, W.R. St. Tammany – Replacing raised pavement markers, pavement striping and related work on I-10 from 0.8 miles north of Gause Boulevard to the west end of the Pearl River Bridge, Southern Synergy LLC, Gonzales, $229,195.

District 03 – Traffic signal upgrades and related work at various intersections in Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin, St. Mary and Vermilion parishes, Ernest P. Breaux Electrical Inc., New Iberia, $717,861.43.
