The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will hold an open-house meeting to discuss the upcoming resurfacing of U.S. 61 from La. 22 to La.74.

The meeting will be held at the Faith Academy, 10469 Airline Highway, Gonzales, LA 70737, on March 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This $9.1 million project will re-surface approximately 7 miles of US 61 (Airline Hwy) between La. 22 and La. 74. Also, as a safety measure, 19 low-volume crossovers will be closed to create safer movements along this route and improve traffic flow. The remaining crossovers with receive upgrades to their existing turning/U-turn lanes or get new turning/U-turn lanes as part of the safety upgrade.

This open-house style meeting is designed to allow participants the opportunity to speak to DOTD representatives, learn more about the project, and to sign-up to receive future e-mail updates about the project. There will not be a formal presentation so visitors can come and go as they please throughout the night.

Lane closures throughout the project will be broken up into two sections. For the section between La. 74 and La. 939, lane closures will be limited to 7 pm – 6 am Monday through Thursday and 2 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

For the section between La. 939 and La. 22, there will be no restrictions for lane closures. However, one lane of traffic will always remain open during construction.
