LULING, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will close the northbound lane for 82 consecutive hours to replace the expansion joint at Hale Boggs (Luling) Bridge beginning Friday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. and ending Tuesday, February 14 at 5:00 a.m.

This is the longest such closure during the project since its inception. Although this is the approved closure time period, the contractor will work continuously to install the expansion joint with hopes of opening the northbound lanes early to help reduce the amount of inconvenience and economic hardship the motorists of the region will experience with the inclusion of a week day during the closure.

In case of inclement weather, DOTD will coordinate with other construction projects in the area, as well as St. Charles Parish to reschedule the closure.

Motorists should detour via the Mississippi River Bridge in Gramercy (LA 3213) or the Huey P. Long Bridge in Bridge City. There will be a hole in the bridge itself, so the prospect of crossing in the northbound lane during the closure will be impossible.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for crews and their equipment.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is committed to delivering transportation and public works systems that enhance the quality of life.
